The 52nd New York Film Festival (NYFF52) presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center was held at Lincoln Center September 26 - October 12, 2014. This year’s festival showcased 30 feature films from established and emerging international filmmakers. NYFF52 Opening, Centerpiece and Closing Night Premieres were GONE GIRL, directed by David Fincher; INHERENT VICE, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, (in theaters December 12, 2014); and BIRDMAN, directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu (in select theaters October 17, 2014).

Keynote Speaker Rick Smolan discussed his 1977 photojournalist assignment for National Geographic chronicling Robyn Davidson's nine-month lone journey across the Gibson Desert “Outback” in Australia at TRACKS: From the Cover of National Geographic to the Silver Screen Presentation during the 2013 PhotoPlus Expo in New York. A book release signing of "From Alice to Ocean: Alone Across the Outback," immediately followed with co-author Rick Smolan.

 

TRACKS a biopic drama of Robyn Davidson's lone journey across the Australian outback, directed by John Curran, distributed by The Weinstein Company, starring Mia Wasikowska as Robyn Davidson and Adam Driver as Rick Smolan now in theaters.

THE GIVER is a powerful film based on the novel by Lois Lowry that depicts a futuristic totalitarian society where love is forbidden and suppressed by medication among humans. When young Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is given memory and wisdom from the Receiver (Jeff Bridges), his fate is set on a mystical quest to return to his society the very essence of life. WEB JUNKIE is a striking and compelling documentary about teenage Internet gaming addiction and the effectiveness of the treatment program founded by Professor Tao Ran at Daxing military style boot camp, in the Beijing Military General Hospital in China. The film takes you on a raw and passionate journey exploring family dynamics, medical and psychosocial progress of three teenagers: Hope (Xi Wang), who spent 300 hours on World of Warcaft (WoW) Internet gaming; Hacker age 15, who inhibits distrust and despair due to Internet addiction; and Nicky addicted to Free Fantasy Internet gaming. The North American theatrical release of NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC music documentary, about the life of prophetic American hip hop recording artist Nas (Nasir Jones), directed by multimedia artist One9 followed by Nas Fall 2014 Tour of Illmatic’s (1994) 20th Anniversary begins Wednesday, October 1, in New York. A Tribeca Film, premiered at 13th Tribeca Film Festival opening night is available on Video on Demand and iTunes, Friday, October 3. Full Story

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Spring/Summer 2015 Collections (MBFWNYSS15) was held at the tents in Lincoln Center and venues throughout New York, September 4-11, 2014. Presented by IMG Fashion, MBFW semi-annual event showcased the latest fashion by established and emerging designers from around the world. The Spring/Summer 2015 collections featured 80 shows, 15 designer's debut, presentations and special events including BCBGMAXAZRIA, Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Dennis Basso, Desigual, Fracesca Liberatore, LACOSTE, Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, Raoul, Reem Acra, Richard Chai, Ruffian, Tadashi Shoji and Tommy Hilfiger.

 Renowned electronic dance music (EDM) DJ/producer Eric Prydz North American Debut of EPIC 3.0 live performance was held at Madison Square Garden, New York, Saturday, September 27, 2014. Eric Prydz (Eric Sheridan Prydz), is a DJ and producer from Stockholm, Sweden based in London, England and living in Los Angeles, California. His two record labels, Pryda and Mouseville acknowledged by Beatport are the most successful and influential in the electronic dance music world. Prydz single tracks, remixes and artists collaboration includes Aftermath, Agag, Allein, Armed, Call On Me, Melo, Miami To Atlanta, Mighty Love, Muranyi and Personal Jesus.
